Long's Florist Supply Who We Are OUR PAST
Howard Long, Sr., Founder of Long’s Florist Supply, valued self-made success. Born in 1909 and growing up during Great Depression, Long recognized the importance of hard work and set high personal goals. One of those goal included owning his own business. He achieved this goal in the early 1950s by opening a Benjamin Franklin store in Crown Point, Indiana. He also opened a Dairy Queen in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the late 1950s.
At the age of 55, Howard Long, Sr. and his wife Anna opened Long’s Florist Supply on Tobey Drive in Indianapolis, Indiana. Long’s specialized in glassware, pottery, and floral supplies. Their two sons, Walter and Howard, Jr. quickly joined in running the new venture, making Long’s a family-operated business.
OUR Present
In 2002 Long’s Florist Supply expanded into the fresh flower business, offering over 35 different flowers and 16 types of foliage to their customers.
A second location opened in Terre Haute, Indiana, in January 2007.
The company has grown since its founding in 1964; seventeen employees work at its two locations. Long’s continues to specialize in a variety of floral arrangement supplies as well as fresh flowers and is a major distributor of Syndicate Sales products. We deliver to an assortment of clients throughout Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio five days a week.
We are proud to be an eco-conscious business, offering box recycling as part of our services. We also conserve water, use recycled newspaper to package flowers, and distribute many items in bulk to avoid excess packaging. We recycle office paper as well as packing boxes and materials. Low energy light bulbs and ballasts, programmable thermostats, and fans all help reduce our company’s carbon footprint. OUR Future
Established in 1964 Long’s Florist Supply continues to thrive as a family-owned and operated florist supply wholesaler with two locations in Indianapolis and Terre Haute, Indiana. Long’s has consistently provided excellent service and quality products for the past 44 years.
We plan to expand further to new locations while maintaining our standards of outstanding customer service and quality merchandise. A young Anna Long poses by a delivery truck. See more photos of Long's founders HERE.
